Demi’s Fine Art Journey: Trying Cutout and Watercolor Artwork

Second weekday art class—so impressive!

Thinking back to the first class, the kids were just getting to know the materials and exploring the core meaning of sculpture. But this time—something truly came to life!

Demi shared about her class, and yes—there were two teachers guiding the three girls. They introduced watercolor techniques, and each child got a different photo as a reference to create their own piece.

Demi got a Sedona landscape, but instead of copying it exactly, she created her own version with a unique twist. The teachers even said, “This is Demi Island!”

They taught the kids to paint freely, cut out their favorite parts, and arrange them in their own creative way. I can tell the teachers designed this lesson to let them make mistakes and learn from the process—especially with watercolors, which can be so tricky to control at first. Such thoughtful teaching!

The artwork isn’t finished yet, so it’s still at the studio—but they’ll keep working on it next time. Way to go, my honey!
